The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 8 – What Did You Think?!

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for The Mandalorian season 2 episode 8!

Nearly every major casting addition for The Mandalorian season 2 was spoiled ahead of time. Regardless, the creative team managed to keep two of the biggest secrets for the very end. Disney+ has premiered the eighth episode of season 2, and we want to  know what the Superhero Hype community thinks about it!

To kick things off, Mando (Pedro Pascal) and Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) captured an Imperial shuttle transporting Dr. Pershing (Omid Abtahi). One of the troopers tried to prevent Pershing’s capture, while taunting Cara Dune (Gina Carano) about Alderaan’s destruction. Big mistake. She killed him, of course. Shortly thereafter, Mando and Fett also recruited Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) and Koska Reeves (Mercedes Varnado aka Sasha Banks). However, the real Mandalorians took issue with Fett’s clone status.

Fortunately, they were able to put their differences aside and join the mission. Perhsing also provided valuable intel about Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) and his light cruiser. More specifically, he revealed where Grogu was being held, and where the Dark Troopers were located. The team made a plan to infiltrate the ship, by using Slave 1 to fake an attack on the shuttle.

Once inside, Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), Cara, Bo-Katan, and Koska made their way to the bridge. Meanwhile, Mando barely survived a run-in with the Dark Troopers. Mando also confronted Gideon, and used the Beskar spear in a duel with Gideon’s Dark Saber. Mando recovered Grogu and took Gideon prisoner. However, Bo-Katan wasn’t able to simply claim the Dark Saber from Mando. As the winner of the duel, it’s his alone.

Minutes later, the Dark Troopers attempted to retake the ship. Gideon made an escape attempt turned suicide attempt, but Cara knocked him out. Before the team was overrun by Dark Troopers, a familiar Jedi arrived and took out the deadly automatons. That Jedi was none other than Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), and he had come to take Grogu for training. Reluctantly, Mando gave permission for Grogu to leave…but not before revealing his face to him.

In the post-credit scene, Bib Fortuna ruled over Jabba’s palace on Tatooine…but not for long. Fett and Shand quickly took over, setting the stage for The Book of Boba Fett spinoff to arrive in December 2021.

All eight episodes of The Mandalorian season 2 are currently streaming on Disney+.
