Pacific Rim: The Black Anime Gets a Teaser Trailer and Launch Date

It doesn’t seem very likely that we’ll get another Pacific Rim live-action film any time soon. However, the long-awaited anime series is just over a month away. Netflix has announced that Pacific Rim: The Black will launch on Thursday, March 4.

There’s still a lot we don’t know about this new series. Presumably it takes place after the first two films in the series, since the Kaiju were assumed to be defeated. Regardless, the giant monsters are back in Australia. Pacific Rim: The Black will turn the spotlight on an idealistic teenage boy and his naïve younger sister. Together, they find and pilot an abandoned Jaeger. It may also be their only hope to survive and reunite with their parents. In the newly released teaser trailer below, the siblings activate the Drift for the first time.

Pacific Rim: The Black already has a two season order from Netflix. Marvel Comics veteran Craig Kyle is the co-showrunner with Greg Johnson. Legendary Television and Polygon Pictures are also producing the series for Netflix.
