The CW Passes on the Wonder Girl TV Series

Back in November, The CW announced that it was developing a new Wonder Girl TV show headlined by Yara Flor, the heroine who finally made her debut appearance in DC’s comic book universe in the Future State event. However, it looks like Yara won’t be making the jump to live-action anytime soon. Dailyn Rodriguez, the executive producer and writer of the series’ pilot, has revealed that The CW isn’t moving forward with the project. You can read what she had to say below.

Yara Flor was by writer and artist Joëlle Jones as the Wonder Woman of DC’s potential future. The fact that The CW was working on a TV vehicle for Yara raised the stakes for her introduction. Yara’s Wonder Woman debut has been hailed as a standout title in DC’s Future State line. Yara will also star in a new ongoing Wonder Girl comic book series launching in May. Jones is presiding over that book as well.

Rodriguez landed the Wonder Girl gig last fall after serving as co-showrunner on USA’s Queen of the South. She was going to executive produce the new show alongside Arrowverse architect Greg Berlanti. Despite this latest news, the expansion of the small-screen DC Universe isn’t slowing down. The CW recently gave a pilot order to Ava DuVernay’s Naomi series.
