After a nine-week run, WandaVision wrapped things up a few days ago. The show officially kicked off Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the new era of Marvel Studios’ ambitious project. Many fans would like to see a sophomore season featuring the newly-born Scarlet Witch, but it appears that the producers have no intention to renew the show, at least not for now. While talking with Deadline, WandaVision head writer Jac Schaeffer stressed that point once again before taking on some of the fans’ expectations for the miniseries.
Schaeffer explained that WandaVision is essentially a show about grief and how Wanda deals with it. After revealing that Kevin Feige came up with the idea to mingle Wanda and Vision with the sitcoms world, she said what fans should have already guessed. Evan Peters’ Ralph Bohner was always the “husband,” Ralph, that Agatha-as-Agnes talked about.
“The idea is that Agatha came to town and took over the neighbor’s house in order to sort of be undercover, and there happened to be a young man named Ralph Bohner who was already living in Westview,” she said. “In the writers’ room, we enjoyed writing Agatha’s sense of humor, and so the idea that she would actually be talking about her hostage through the entirety of the series really tickled us.”
She also praised Peters for the incredible job he did in (sort of) resuming his role as Quicksilver. Schaeffer didn’t comment on Peters’s future in the MCU, but she said she hoped to see him again.

Schaeffer went on addressing one of the most prominent fan theories for WandaVision. Many fans believed that the series would have introduced Mephisto in the MCU. Some of the craziest ideas went as far as saying that the villain was hiding in disguise as Señor Scratchy, Agatha’s bunny.
“We didn’t think this series needed a big bad,” she added. “I mean, the big bad is grief, you know, and that’s the story that we were telling, and then we got a bonus baddie in the form of Agatha Harkness who ended up facilitating Wanda’s therapy, so yeah, I think we feel pretty good about that.”
Every episode of WandaVision is now on Disney+.
