The fellowship is now complete. Although Amazon’s Lord of the Rings TV series has been in production for several months, the streamer has just confirmed the last casting announcements for the show’s first season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the producers have added Charles Edwards, Will Fletcher, Amelie Child-Villiers, and Beau Cassidy to the series’ roster.
Not surprisingly, Amazon isn’t disclosing the nature of the actors’ roles. Regardless, their addition to the series brings the ensemble total to a whopping 39 performers. And with a $465 million budget, it’s not like Amazon can’t afford to pay their salaries. The show takes place during Middle-Earth’s Second Age, many years before the events of The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Details about the story remain scarce. However, the series will feature at least one familiar character, with Morfydd Clark playing a young Galadriel.

Edwards is known for his roles on Netflix’s The Crown as well as AMC’s The Terror. Meanwhile, Fletcher garnered rave reviews for his performance in The Girl Who Fell, a play that ran on London’s West End in 2019. Child-Villiers and Cassidy are both newcomers to the industry.
Amazon hasn’t announced a release date for The Lord of the Rings. An early 2022 premiere seems like the safest bet. But apparently, if the series clears its pandemic-related speedbumps in time, it could potentially debut by the end of this year.
