WandaVision, The Mandalorian, and The Boys Receive Emmy Award Nominations

Genre show fans should be happy to know that Marvel Studios’ first Disney+ series, WandaVision, has been nominated for Best Limited Series, Movie, or Anthology at this year’s 73rd Emmy Awards.

Series star Elizabeth Olsen also landed her first nomination for Best Actress in that category. Additionally, Olsen’s WandaVision co-star, Paul Bettany, has received a nomination for Best Actor in that category. Within the show, Olsen plays Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, while Bettany portrays her doomed lover, Vision. Kathryn Hahn is also an Emmy nominee for Best Supporting Actress thanks to her turn as Agatha Harkness/Agnes. Hahn’s role was a scene-stealer in WandaVision, and she could easily win this category.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was nearly shut out of the major awards, save for Don Cheadle’s surprise nomination for Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series. Cheadle briefly reprised his role as James Rhodes/War Machine in the first episode. Additionally, The Mandalorian‘s Timothy Olyphant and Carl Weathers will compete with Cheadle in the guest actor category.

For the second year in a row, The Mandalorian received an Emmy nomination for Best Drama Series. However, it’s not the only genre show in the running. Amazon Prime’s The Boys has been nominated as well. And HBO’s recently cancelled Lovecraft Country is also nominated in that category.

Regardless, the competition for Best Drama remains fierce. The other nominees include BridgertonThe CrownThe Handmaid’s Tale, Pose, and This Is Us.
