Blade Runner: Black Lotus Trailer Introduces a New Replicant Hero

Replicants are back. Only this time, it looks like they’re putting up more of a fight. During a recent Comic-Con@Home panel, Adult Swim and Crunchyroll premiered a new trailer for Blade Runner: Black Lotus, a new CG-anime series coming later this year.

Set between the events of Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049, Black Lotus picks up in Los Angeles in 2032. The series introduces us to Elle (voiced by Iron Fist’s Jessica Henwick in the English version), a female replicant created for an unknown purpose. Judging by the trailer, it looks like the show will open with Elle having no memory of how she wound up in L.A.’s neon-lit cityscape. But luckily, whoever designed her gave her some impressive martial arts skills, which she swiftly demonstrates on a gang of thugs who corner her in an alleyway.

As Elle works to piece together her origins, she finds herself targeted by futuristic L.A.P.D. officers. Additionally, she will encounter the Wallace Corporation and its leader, Niander Wallace (voiced by X2 and Succession star Brian Cox). The series also features music by Grammy winner Alessia Cara, whose song “Feel You Now” appears in the trailer.
