There have been Rick and Summer, Rick and Beth, and even Rick and Jerry episodes. But it may be time for a rare “Rick-centric” episode of Rick and Morty. The Smith family is going away for a vacation, and even Morty is coming this time. Regardless, Rick would rather be by himself…even if he has no idea how to respond to being left home alone.
Adult Swim has debuted the cold opening for Rick and Morty season 5 episode 8. And it also features the return of an old friend. However, this person may not be happy to see Rick again.

This episode is called “Rickternal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort,” and it will presumably explore Rick’s friendship with Birdperson. Way back in the season 2 finale, Birdperson was murdered at his own wedding by the bride, Tammy. However, Tammy and the Federation resurrected Birdperson as the cyborg, Phoenixperson. And Phoenixperson may also be holding a grudge against his best friend, because Rick killed Tammy back in season 4. The big question now is whether Rick can make amends with Birdperson/Phoenixperson.
Rick and Morty season 5 episode 8 will premiere on Adult Swim this Sunday, August 8.
