Disney memorably closed out 2020 with a livestreamed Investor Day presentation, where the heads of various subdivisions revealed dozens of new film and TV projects hitting screens over the next few years. And it sounds like Disney may plotting a similar round of content overload for this fall. During a recent earnings call (via Deadline), CEO Bob Chapek teased even more announcements are coming our way on Disney+ Day. The event will also commemorate the two-year anniversary of the platform’s launch on November 12.
Chapek didn’t share many details. But we do know that Jungle Cruise will hit Disney+’s regular tier on that day. However, we can probably also expect updates related to the Disney’s Marvel and Star Wars slates. Marvel Studios recently skipped out on this year’s Comic-Con@Home. With this, Disney+ Day would be the perfect place for Kevin Feige to dish on Phase Four and beyond. This includes a handful of new live-action TV shows, at least one of which (Hawkeye) is still expected to debut by the end of 2021.

The Star Wars saga could also make a big impact at the event, especially if The Book of Boba Fett is featured. But there is also the possibility of early footage from two of Lucasfilm’s other upcoming projects: Star Wars: Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi, both of which have been filming for several months. New announcements about upcoming Pixar and 20th Century projects seem like safe bets as well.
“It gives us an opportunity to provide a focal point for consumers who may not have tripped over to Disney+,” said Chapek.
