James Gunn Debuts First Peacemaker DC FanDome Poster

A few hours after DC announced the return of DC FanDome, the promotional materials have already started to emerge. After joining forces for the recently released soft reboot of The Suicide Squad, it appears that the relationship between James Gunn and DC is far from being over. The Guardians of the Galaxy-vet took to his socials to release a promotional poster for his upcoming DC project, the Peacemaker series. Fans will have to wait for Oct. 16 before watching the first look at the John Cena-led series, but the latest poster sets the tone for it, at least. It features the titular antihero waving a peace sign out of his Comet’s window. And his pet eagle in the back. But he might not have thought his personalized license plate through.

RELATED: James Gunn Wanted Dave Bautista as Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad

Before WWE star John Cena landed it in The Suicide Squad, Gunn offered the role of Peacemaker to Dave Bautista. However, Bautista opted to turn down the offer as he landed the leading role in Netflix’s Army of the Dead. The chemistry on The Suicide Squad set between Gunn and Cena was such that ultimately it led to a solo project involving the former pro-wrestling champion. The series will run for eight episodes, with Gunn writing — in addition to directing some of them — and it will expand on the world of the merciless, peace-loving killer.

Peacemaker will hit HBO Max in January 2022.
