Batwheels Adds Ethan Hawke as the Voice of Batman

Ethan Hawke was recently in Budapest filming Marvel’s Moon Knight series. But it looks like his villainous turn in the MCU won’t be his last dip into superhero territory. Via ComicBook.com, Hawke has joined the voice cast of Cartoon Network and HBO Max’s Batwheels animated series as none other than the Dark Knight himself.

Unlike Moon Knight, Batwheels is aimed primarily at preschool-aged kids and follows anthropomorphized versions of some of the Bat Family’s most iconic vehicles. Some of these vehicles we’ve seen before, including the instantly recognizable Batmobile and Batplane. However, it looks like the show is adding new sets of wheels to the mix as well.

Warner Bros. announced Batwheels’ full voice cast during a virtual event to celebrate the launch of Cartoonito, their new preschool programming block that will be available to watch on both Cartoon Network and HBO Max. Hawke’s Batman leads a roster that also includes Jacob Bertrand as the Batmobile (a.k.a. “Bam”), Jordan Reed as Robin’s sports car, Redbird, Madigan Kacmar as Batgirl’s motorcycle, Bibi; Noah Bentley as Buff, a bat-themed monster truck who’s also the heart of the team; and Lilimar as Batman’s supersonic jet plane, Batwing. You can check out designs for these characters below.

The series will also feature some of Batman’s human allies. AJ Hudson provides the voice of Duke Thomas/Robin, while Leah Lewis stars as Cassandra Cain/Batgirl. Kimberly D. Brooks will voice the Batcomputer, which trains the vehicular characters and also acts as their mother. Finally, Mick Wingert rounds out the cast as Moe, Batman’s sarcastic robot repairman who keeps the vehicles in ship-shape.

Batwheels doesn’t have a premiere date, but more details will presumably be shared at DC FanDome next month.
