For the first time since Black Panther, Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger has returned…even if it’s just in an alternate reality. However, Killmonger’s goal hasn’t changed, he’s just better at it here. The sixth episode of What If…? has hit Disney+, and we want to know what the Superhero Hype community thinks about it! This post is a place for all of you to leave your own reviews, thoughts, or anything else you want to say about What If…? season 1 episode 6.

In a divergence from the events of Iron Man, Killmonger prevents Tony Stark from being kidnapped in Afghanistan. Killmonger also provides evidence that implicates Obadiah Stane in the attempt. Out of gratitude, Tony hires Killmonger in an executive position and he collaborates with him on a drone army. Killmonger also suggests using  vibranium as the drone’s power source.

A meeting between James Rhodes and Ulysses Klaue to procure more vibranium attracts the attention of Black Panther. But this turned out to be an elaborate trap set by Killmonger, who murders both James and T’Challa. Killmonger also left behind evidence to suggest that James killed T’Challa.

However, Tony wasn’t fooled and he set a trap for Killmonger. Tony ambushed Killmonger in his mansion, with one of Killmonger’s own drones. Regardless, Killmonger defeated the drone and murdered Tony. He then framed Tony’s death as a retaliatory hit from Wakanda. While General Ross prepares to attack Wakanda with an army of drones, Killmonger kills Klaue and reunites with his Wakandan family.

T’Challa’s father, T’Chaka, warmly welcomes his nephew into the royal family. However, Shuri and Ramonda are openly suspicious. To earn their trust, Killmonger tells them how to disable the drone army within Wakanda’s shield. But to really prove himself as a warrior, Killmonger reactivates the drones inside of Wakanda’s borders so that he can personally lead their forces into battle.

In the aftermath, T’Chaka names Killmonger as the new Black Panther. On the ancestral plane, Killmonger meets T’Challa’s spirit, who warns him that his victory may be temporary. Back in the United States, Shuri approaches Pepper Potts with proof of Killmonger’s duplicity. She also asks Pepper to work with her to stop him.
