Throughout the first seven seasons of The Flash, the look of Barry Allen’s costume has constantly evolved. However, it’s never been a perfect match for the Flash’s comic book counterpart. Regardless, it looks like the Flash’s latest costume upgrade may come closer than ever before.
During DC FanDome, the producers of The Flash debuted a new picture of Grant Gustin in costume as Barry Allen. Among the changes are a newly designed center crest and the wings on his mask. But the biggest addition are the Flash’s golden boots, which had been left out until now. It’s arguably the best live-action Flash costume since The Flash‘s 1990 TV series.

In a statement, Gustin said that the Flash’s golden boots were “the final element that’s been missing. I’ve loved all the versions of The Flash suit we’ve had on the show, but the suit we have now is the closest to the many iterations you see in the comic books—with the exception of those gold boots! I’ve always felt that those boots would be the final touch.”
The Flash season 8 premieres on November 16 on The CW.
