Daniel Dae Kim Cast As Fire Lord Ozai In Avatar: The Last Airbender

Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series has found its villain. Deadline is reporting that Daniel Dae Kim has joined the cast as Fire Lord Ozai, the father of Prince Zuko (Dallas Liu).

Within the series and its animated predecessor, Fire Lord Ozai is “the ruthlessly-driven leader of the Fire Nation who he demands everyone live up to his impossible standards, especially his teenaged son, Prince Zuko. Ozai’s drive to conquer and unite the world under firebender rule is a family burden—he believes that it’s his destiny to finish a war started by his ancestors.”

Within the original Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series, Kim voiced General Fong. Kim’s previous genre experience includes the Babylon 5 spinoff, Crusade. However, he is best known for his six season run on Lost. Additionally, Kim had a seven season stint on the Hawaii Five-0 reboot. Kim will also star in NatGeo’s The Hot Zone: Anthrax later this month.
