Several months after word broke that Lucasfilm was looking to cast Sabine Wren in Star Wars: Ahsoka, the studio has finally found an actress to bring the character into live-action. Deadline is reporting that Natasha Liu Bordizzo will play Sabine in the upcoming miniseries.
Sabine Wren was previously introduced in the animated series, Star Wars Rebels, where she was voiced by Tiya Sircar. She was born on Mandalore and later built weapons at her planet’s Imperial Academy. But after the Empire used these weapons against her own people, she dropped out of the Academy and joined Kanan Jarrus and Hera Syndulla’s rebel cell.
Bordizzo made her feature debut in Netflix’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny. She went on to appear in films like The Greatest Showman, Hotel Mumbai, and Guns Akimbo. In 2019, she played a major role in Netflix’s The Society, which got the ax after one season. This year, Bordizzo had a voice role in Wish Dragon and also appeared in Amazon’s The Voyeurs.

Ahsoka features Rosario Dawson reprising her Mandalorian role as the title character. Plot details are still under wraps. Regardless, some fans have been looking to the Rebels series finale for an idea of what to expect. That episode memorably saw Ahsoka and Sabine teaming up to find Ezra Bridger, who had been spirited away by the Purrgil. Sadly, there’s still no word if Ahsoka’s producers intend to cast a live-action Ezra for the series.
Additionally, Ahsoka is rumored to have an appearance by Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker, who also has a role in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Disney+ hasn’t announced a release date for the new series. However, production is rumored to begin in March.
