James Gunn Shares First Look At Peacemaker’s Judomaster

The upcoming Peacemaker series may be a spinoff from The Suicide Squad, but writer and director James Gunn also has the greenlight to introduce even more obscure DC characters. Case in point, Judomaster, a hero who has never previously appeared in live-action. According to Gunn’s new Tweet, that will change in just over two weeks when Nhut Le makes his first appearance as Judomaster on the show. He also shared a first look at Le in costume, which you can see below. Peacemaker’s Judomaster.

Joe Gill and artist Frank McLaughlin created the first Judomaster, Hadley “Rip” Jagger, in 1965. As his codename implies, Jagger was trained in Judo and he became an expert in the martial arts. Jagger was eventually succeeded by his son, Thomas Jagger. However, it’s unclear if Le is portraying either the father or the son. His Judomaster may also be an entirely separate character.

John Cena stars in Peacemaker as the title character. Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland are also reprising their respective roles as John Economos and Emilia Harcourt from The Suicide Squad. Additionally, Freddie Stroma will portray Vigilante, with Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Murn, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.

Peacemaker‘s first three episodes will premiere on Thursday, January 13. The five remaining episodes will be released weekly.
