During a Team Peacemaker briefing on Project Butterfly, Christopher Smith/Peacemaker constantly antagonizes John Economos. Chris also berates Economos for framing his father, Auggie Smith. Privately, Leota Adebayo tells Chris to be nicer to Economos. Chris also seems to be taken aback when Adrian Pierce/Vigilante calls him a bully, even though “Thimble” is kind of okay with it.

On the drive out to a Project Butterfly factory, Chris and most of Team Peacemaker find some common ground with music. Once they arrive, Chris’ x-ray helmet reveals that the entire factory is run by butterflies. While Chris and Adebayo storm the front, Emilia Harcourt and Vigilante sneak in through the back. However, they soon run into “Charlie,” a butterfly living in a gorilla’s body.

After nearly blowing up himself and Adebayo, Chris fights the gorilla and is completely outmatched. But before the gorilla can kill Peacemaker, Economos arrives with Vigilante’s chainsaw and takes out the gorilla. Chris is so impressed that instantly sings Economos’ praises, and they bond on the drive back. Even Harcourt seems happy with the outcome, and she takes a picture of Team Peacemaker enjoying the win.

Meanwhile, Clemson Murn calls in an associate, Caspar Locke, to discredit Auggie’s story and derail Detective Sophie Song’s investigation into Peacemaker. Locke even gets himself installed as Song’s new police captain. Regardless, she goes over his head to continue the investigation. Auggie is freed, and he plans to kill his own son for getting him in trouble with the law.

Later, Chris and Adebayo hang out at his place as friends. But as soon as he leaves the room, Adebayo follows her mother’s orders, and places a forged diary in Peacemaker’s home. Feeling guilty and unable to sleep, Adebayo goes back to the office where Murn is still working. When she tries on Peacemaker’s x-ray helmet, Adebayo sees that Murn is a butterfly. Or at least he has an alien butterfly in his brain. Adebayo tries to escape, but Murn quickly catches up to her.

Peacemaker episode 6 will premiere on HBO Max on Thursday, February 3.
