The Boys Season 3 Poster Teases a Major Upgrade For Butcher

Amazon’s The Boys doesn’t adapt its source material to the letter. Regardless, it keeps enough of the original comic’s spirit intact for longtime fans to embrace it. Some of the show’s deviations might even be considered improvements on the story that Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson began telling way back in 2006. But a new poster for The Boys season 3 suggests that a major element from the comics is finally making its way into the TV show.

Season 1 of The Boys memorably showed Billy Butcher and his team discovering that Compound V was the source of all superhuman powers. But in the comics, the characters were already aware of the serum’s existence. In fact, by the time the series began, most of the team’s members had already used it on themselves in order to go toe-to-toe with Vought’s supes in combat. The injections only gifted them with enhanced strength in Ennis and Robertson’s original series. However, season 3’s latest key art hints that show’s producers are giving the characters a more diverse range of abilities this time around. Check out the new poster below.

Karl Urban’s Butcher is intimidating enough without any powers. But if he is getting laser eyes this year, the supes are in big trouble. It remains to be seen if Amazon plans to release other character posters with the remaining members of The Boys wielding their own superhuman gifts. For now, all we can do is wait and see.

The Boys season 3 will premiere on Amazon Prime on June 3.
