This isn’t the first time that a cast or crew member has suffered an injury on The Walking Dead‘s set. One of the more high-profile incidents happened in 2017, when stuntman John Bernecker died after falling off a balcony and landing head-first on a concrete floor. His family was later awarded $8.6 million in damages. Reedus also cut his arm up while filming an episode of the series in 2015.
Despite this, Reedus is still set to co-headline a new Walking Dead spinoff with Melissa McBride after the flagship series wraps up its 11-season run. In the meantime, the show’s next episode will air this Sunday, March 20 on AMC.
