Peter Ramsey is Directing Star Wars: Ahsoka For Disney+

One of the directors behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is heading to a galaxy far, far away. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peter Ramsey has signed on to helm at least one episode of Star Wars: Ahsoka.

Dawson is headlining the upcoming spinoff as the title character after previously bringing Ahsoka to life on The Mandalorian. Details are scarce, but the show is confirmed to take place during the same timeframe as its parent series. Production is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles later this month. Dave Filoni is writing the series and will also executive produce with Jon Favreau.

So far, the show’s cast also includes Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren. Ivanna Sakhno, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Ray Stevenson have also booked mystery roles in the series.

The success of Into the Spider-Verse in 2018 led to Ramsey to become the first African-American to receive an Oscar nomination (and win) for Best Animated Feature. Before that, he also became the first African-American to direct a major American animated film with 2012’s Rise of the Guardians.

Ramsey most recently helmed an episode of Netflix’s We the People and is also serving as an executive producer on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse – Part One and its 2023 sequel. Ahsoka will mark his official live action debut as a director, though he began his career as a storyboard artist and second unit director on films like Fight Club and 1998’s Godzilla.

Disney+ still hasn’t announced a premiere date for Star Wars: Ahsoka.
