The CW Cancels Naomi, 4400, Roswell, Charmed, and More

Late last month, The CW cancelled Batwoman and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which significantly cut down on its superhero shows. However, those aren’t the last sci-fi and superhero series to get the axe by the network. Via The Hollywood Reporter, The CW has cancelled Naomi after a single season introduction of the DC heroine. Today’s other CW causalities include the reboots of 4400, Charmed, Rosewell, New Mexico, and DynastyCancels Naomi.

Why is The CW dropping so many shows? The biggest factor appears to be that The CW may soon be sold to the Nexstar station group. And if that happens, Nexstar is expected to significantly cut back on The CW’s scripted content. Many of today’s cancellations were also low performers compared to shows on other networks.

Since The Flash and Superman and Lois have already been renewed, the lone DC superhero show left hanging is Stargirl. The third season of Stargirl will premiere this summer, and The CW will presumably make its decision soon after. It’s also widely believed that The Flash will end after season nine, perhaps leaving Superman and Lois the only surviving Arrowverse show.

The other CW shows currently on the bubble are Legacies and the Nancy Drew spinoff, Tom Swift. The CW will announce its fall schedule later this month.
