Stephanie Beatriz Cast in Peacock’s Twisted Metal TV Series

Peacock’s live-action Twisted Metal series has just cast Anthony Mackie’s partner in crime. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stephanie Beatriz has booked a leading role in the upcoming adaptation of Sony’s hit video games.

Beatriz will portray Quiet, a car thief who forms an alliance with Mackie’s John Doe after he’s tasked with delivering a package across the post-apocalyptic remains of the civilized world. Unfortunately, their journey is beset by many obstacles along the way, including a healthy dose of vehicular combat. Quiet originally hails from a community that “oppressed her into silence.” Regardless, she “wishes to find her place in this dark, chaotic world.”

Beatriz is best known for playing Rosa Diaz on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which aired its eighth and final season last year. She previously had a role in last year’s In the Heights and provided the voice of Mirabel Madrigal in Disney’s Encanto. Beatriz also recently appeared in Catwoman: Hunted as the voice of Kate Kane/Batwoman.

After Mackie was cast last September, Twisted Metal received an official series order back in February. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool) developed the show’s initial premise, while Cobra Kai alum Michael Jonathan Smith will act as the primary showrunner. Kitao Sakurai has also signed on to executive produce and direct multiple episodes of the series.

Peacock hasn’t announced the start of production for Twisted Metal or a target date for the premiere.
