Soon, Harley Quinn won’t be the only adult animated project featuring DC characters. Warner Bros. is about to put an irreverent spin on another DC hero with an A-list comedian leading the voice cast. Variety reports that Leslie Jones will star as Plastic Woman (real title TBD) in a brand new series from Warner Bros. Animation. Jones will also serve as an executive producer on the show.
The upcoming series is a gender-flipped take on Plastic Man, who has been a fixture in DC’s comic book universe for over 50 years. He has also been an occasional member of the Justice League. But it doesn’t look like Eel O’Brien is getting his own show or his own movie anytime soon. In 2020, Warner Bros. hired screenwriter Cat Vasko to re-work its long-gestating Plastic Man film into a female-led superhero comedy. However, that project doesn’t have any connection to Jones’ series.
Plastic Woman is currently in the early stages of development and doesn’t have a writer or a network yet. But considering it’s a Warner Bros. project, HBO Max or Adult Swim are the safest bets.

Aside from her five-year run as a cast member on Saturday Night Live, Jones is also known for starring in 2016’s Ghostbusters reboot. More recently, she had a role in Coming 2 America and appeared in several episodes of HBO Max’s Our Flag Means Death. Her first stand-up special for Netflix, Time Machine, was released in 2020.
