Scott Pilgrim Takes Off reimagines the beloved graphic novels

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off promises to remix the story of Bryan Lee O’Malley‘s Scott Pilgrim graphic novels, which were previously adapted into director Edgar Wright’s live-action feature film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010). O’Malley serves as co-writer and co-showrunner of the Netflix series, with Wright attached as an executive producer.

Moreover, virtually the entire cast of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World returns for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. In addition to Cera and Winstead as Scott and Ramona, respectively, the anime stars the voices of Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, Brie Larson as Envy Adams, Alison Pill as Kim Pine, Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, Jason Schwartzman as Gideon Graves, Johnny Simmons as Neil Nordegraf, Mark Webber as Stephen Stills, Mae Whitman as Roxie Richter, and Ellen Wong as Knives Chau.

An official synopsis for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off reads as follows: “Scott Pilgrim meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, but learns he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. Then things get even more complicated.” Netflix further explains that the series “revisits and reimagines the beloved cult classic, taking Ramona Flowers, her evil exes, Scott, and his friends off on a mysterious new action-packed journey to find love.”

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off premieres Friday, November 17 on Netflix.
