Scott Pilgrim Takes Off: Ramona Takes the Lead in Romantic Final Trailer

With the premiere of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off now less than a week away, Netflix has released the anime series’ final official trailer.

Revealed as part of Netflix’s Geeked Week, the new trailer centers on the whirlwind romance between Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) and Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). However, it largely looks at things from Ramona’s perspective, rather than Scott’s. The trailer concludes with Ramona squaring up to fight alongside her new boyfriend.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off remixes Bryan Lee O’Malley’s comics

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is the latest on-screen adaptation of the six-part Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O’Malley. Alongside BenDavid Grabinski, O’Malley serves as co-writer and co-showrunner of the new animated series. Edgar Wright — who directed the 2010 live-action film adaptation, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World — serves as an executive producer.

“Scott Pilgrim meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, and discovers he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. But this time, things get even more complicated,” an official synopsis for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off reads. The anime “revisits and reimagines the beloved cult classic, taking Ramona Flowers, her evil exes, Scott, and his friends off on a mysterious new action-packed journey to find love.”

That said, not everything is changing. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off reunites virtually the entire cast of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. In addition to Cera and Winstead as Scott and Ramona, respectively, the new series stars the voices of Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, Brie Larson as Envy Adams, Alison Pill as Kim Pine, Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, Jason Schwartzman as Gideon Graves, Johnny Simmons as Neil Nordegraf, Mark Webber as Stephen Stills, Mae Whitman as Roxie Richter, and Ellen Wong as Knives Chau.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off premieres Friday, November 17 on Netflix.
