Alien: Noah Hawley’s FX Series Casts Another Fargo Star

Another Fargo star is joining the cast of Noah Hawley’s Alien television series for FX.

Per Deadline, David Rysdahl has officially joined the cast of Hawley’s Alien prequel series. On November 27, 2023, Deadline broke the news that Timothy Olyphant will also play a role in the upcoming show.

Olyphant previously played a significant role in the fourth season of FX’s Fargo, which was created by Hawley, while Rysdahl is starring in the ongoing fifth season.

Rysdahl has also starred in 2023’s Oppenheimer, 2022’s No Exit, and 2020’s Nine Days, among other titles. He additionally starred in the 2023 “Mazey Day” episode of Black Mirror alongside Zazie Beetz and Danny Ramirez.

What do we know about Noah Hawley’s Alien series?

The upcoming Alien series — not to be confused with Fede Álvarez’s Alien: Romulus, a new movie set between the events of 1979’s Alien and 1986’s Aliens that’s scheduled to release on August 16, 2024 — is set prior to the events of Ridley Scott’s film. Not much is known about the plot at this time; however, Deadline reports that it will be the first story in the franchise that is primarily set on Earth.

While details surrounding Rysdahl’s role in the series remain under wraps at this time, Olyphant is reportedly playing an android synth named Kirsh. The rest of the previously announced cast includes Sydney Chandler as Wendy, Alex Lawther as CJ, Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier, Essie Davis as Dame Silva, Adarsh Gourav as Slightly, and Kit Young as Tootles.

Announced in December 2020 as a joint-venture production between 20th Television (which is owned by The Walt Disney Company) and Scott Free Productions, the Alien television series is written and directed by Hawley, while Scott serves as an executive producer.

Hawley told TheWrap earlier this month that Alien will likely air on FX in early-to-mid 2025.
