The Witcher Season 4: Laurence Fishburne Joins the Cast of Netflix Fantasy Series

Laurence Fishburne has joined the cast of The Witcher Season 4.

Per Variety, Fishburne has been tapped to play Regis, a character who is “a world-wise Barber-surgeon with a mysterious past who joins Geralt on his journey,” in the upcoming fourth season of The Witcher.

The official Twitter account for The Witcher confirmed the news with a tweet reading, “News from The Continent! Laurence Fishburne will be joining The Witcher family as Regis, a world-wise Barber-surgeon with a mysterious past.”

“I’m very excited to be joining the cast and look forward to exploring the wondrous world of ‘The Witcher,’” Fishburne said in a statement.

What is The Witcher Season 4 about?

“After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again,” the synopsis reads.

While Henry Cavill previously played Geralt of Rivia in Netflix‘s The Witcher, Liam Hemsworth will take over the role starting in Season 4. The series also stars Freya Allan as Princess Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Joey Batey as Jaskier, among others.

Fishburne is known for playing Morpheus in The Matrix films, The Bowery King in the John Wick movies, and Perry White in the DCEU franchise. He’s also starred in 1979’s Apocalypse Now, 1985’s The Color Purple, 1991’s Boyz n the Hood, 2006’s Mission: Impossible III, 2010’s Predators, and 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, among other roles.

The first three seasons of The Witcher are currently streaming on Netflix. The Witcher Season 4 does not yet have a premiere date.
