Obi-Wan Kenobi: Ewan McGregor Asks Fans to ‘Write Disney’ About Season 2

Obi-Wan Kenobi star Ewan McGregor has asked Star Wars fans to campaign on his behalf for a second season of the Disney+ series.

During a panel at MegaCon Orlando (via Screen Rant), the actor briefly discussed how Obi-Wan Kenobi evolved from a theatrical movie to a streaming series before reaffirming his desire for another season.

“There was originally gonna be a movie, and I’ve often thought, should it have been a movie? But I kinda think it’s great that they did it that way, and it’s a longer story, and hopefully it’s more satisfying as a result,” McGregor said. “We got more time to weave a story. Let’s hope they do another one. Can everyone write to Disney?”

Since the release of the Disney+ series in 2022, McGregor has repeatedly expressed interest in returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi, mentioning earlier this year that he would “love to do the second season” but that there is “a lot going on at Disney” at the moment.

Obi-Wan Kenobi bridges the gap between the prequels and Episode IV

Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place 10 years after the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, following the titular Jedi Master as he’s forced to confront his past when Princess Leia is kidnapped by a mysterious villain.

In addition to McGregor, Obi-Wan Kenobi features several returning stars from the prequel trilogy, including Joel Edgerton as Owen Lars, Bonnie Piesse as Beru Whitesun Lars, Jimmy Smits as Bail Organa, Ian McDiarmid as Emperor Palpatine, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Temuera Morrison as a veteran clone trooper, Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn, and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is streaming on Disney+.
