What do we know about The Acolyte?

“In The Acolyte, an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg),” the synopsis, per StarWars.com, reads. “As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems….”

Along with Stenberg and Lee, The Acolyte stars Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

“If you loved that sequence with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan and Darth Maul, I think you’re going to enjoy this show,” Jacinto previously teased of The Acolyte when speaking with Entertainment Weekly in July 2023.

Barnett added, “I will say too — not to shade, but we have a lot more tangible physical moves than I saw in that fight. As badass as it is, there’s a lot more grounded work that goes into our stunt training and our stunt performances.”

The Acolyte comes from creator and showrunner Leslye Headland, who previously co-created Russian Doll for Netflix.

Headland also serves as an executive producer on The Acolyte alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef. Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana serve as co-executive producers, while Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson are producing the series.

The first two episodes of The Acolyte premieres on Disney+ on June 4, 2024.
