Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trailer Previews Mutant Mayhem Spin-off Series

Ahead of its debut on Paramount+ this summer, a new teaser trailer for Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been released.

Shared on Twitter by IGN, the trailer begins by reminding viewers that Paramount+ is the home of “all things Turtles,” showing clips from the previous TMNT cartoons. The video then features a montage of scenes from the upcoming Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which will be set between the events of the 2023 movie Mutant Mayhem and the untitled 2026 sequel.

“From the universe of the Mutant Mayhem film, the all-new Paramount+ original series explores the adventures of everyone’s favorite pizza-loving heroes as they emerge from the sewers onto the streets of NYC,” reads the official synopsis (via IGN). “Leo, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey are faced with new threats and team up with old allies to survive both teenage life and villains lurking in the shadows of the Big Apple.”

Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was first announced by Paramount and Nickelodeon in July 2023. Chris Yost and Alan Wan serve as executive producers and showrunners on the 2D animated original series, which is produced by Point Grey Pictures.

The upcoming Paramount+ series brings back the voice cast from Mutant Mayhem, with Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, and Brady Noon reprising their roles as Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Raphael, respectively. Ayo Edebiri is also returning as the Heroes in a Half Shell’s human ally, April O’Neil.

New live-action TMNT movie announced

In addition to a Mutant Mayhem sequel, Paramount is developing a new live-action TMNT movie that will be based on the comic book, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin. Unlike previous TMNT movies, The Last Ronin is aiming for an R-rating, which is required given the five-issue limited series’ dark subject matter.

Tyler Burton Smith (Boy Kills World) is writing the script. No director or cast is attached at this time. Walter Hamada, the former head of DC Films, is producing the movie.

Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is scheduled to premiere this summer on Paramount+.
