Fittingly released on Star Wars Day, Disney put out a new The Acolyte trailer ahead of the show’s two-episode DIsney+ debut on June 4.
“An investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg),” reads the synopsis. “As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems…”

The Acolyte is described as a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers that will be set within the final days of the High Republic era. In addition to The Acolyte, Lucasfilm is also working on other Star Wars projects, including shows like Skeleton Crew, Andor Season 2, and Ahsoka Season 2
Who is writing The Acolyte?
Star Wars: The Acolyte is written and executive produced by Leslye Headland (Russian Doll), who also serves as the showrunner. Joining Amandla Stenberg Stenberg are Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Jodie Turner-Smith (After Yang), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), and Star Wars sequel trilogy alum Joonas Suotama as a new character in the form of a Wookiee Jedi master.
