Spider-Noir Taps Ballerina, Andor Star for Nicolas Cage Marvel Series

Andor’s Abraham Popoola has joined the cast of Spider-Noir.

Spider-Noir is the upcoming Spider-Man Noir live-action Amazon Prime Video series that stars Nicolas Cage. Based on the Marvel character of the same name, the series comes from showrunners and executive producers Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot.

Per Deadline, Popoola has now joined the cast of the series. While his character’s name has not yet been revealed, he’ll play a “World War I veteran who is looking for an opportunity to get ahead.”

Popoola previously played North-1 in Disney+’s Andor and George in 2021’s Cruella. He’s also starred in movies such as 2020’s Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey, 2022’s Morbius, 2023’s The Marvels, and 2024’s Atlas, while he’s appeared in television series such as Hulu’s The Great, Prime Video’s The Right, and Hulu’s Extraordinary. He’ll soon be seen in the upcoming John Wick spin-off movie Ballerina, which is being led by Ana de Armas and is scheduled to be released on June 6, 2025.

What else do we know about the Spider-Noir Marvel series?

Along with Popoola and Cage, who previously voiced an animated Spider-Man Noir in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Noir stars New Girl’s Lamorne Morris and Babylon’s Li Jun Li.

The live-action series, according to Deadline, “tells the story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.”

Harry Bradbeer is directing the first two episodes of the Marvel series. He also serves as an executive producer, as do Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal.

Spider-Noir will first debut in the United States on MGM+ before it later arrives on Amazon Prime Video. An official premiere date has not yet been announced at this time.
