Two classic Star Wars games are returning with a vengeance, ready to put players’ Jedi skills to the test. During a recent Nintendo Direct broadcast, it was confirmed that Aspyr will bring back two favorites from the LucasArts era!
The first game, Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, will debut on September 24 for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. The second, Star Wars: Jedi Academy, will follow in early 2020 for both platforms as well. Aspyr partnered with Lucasfilm as part of the deal, hinting at the company’s potential return to the gaming world. This was suggested in a report earlier this year.
Aspyr made note that although the games aren’t high-definition remasters, they will come with additional features. Jedi Academy will have online multiplayer once released, so players can engage in fights with their friends. And both games will have gyro motion control support on the Nintendo Switch. That way, players can swing their JoyCon peripherals like actual lightsabers if they prefer.

We can’t wait to see fans’ reactions.”

Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast originally came out in 2002 for consoles, as well as PC. Then Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy followed closely behind in 2003 for most of those platforms as well. Both games did a serviceable job continuing the storyline that originated with Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, which first debuted in 1997.
