Insomniac Premieres New Spider-Man: Miles Morales Gameplay Footage

During today’s Playstation 5 Showcase event, Insomniac offered fans a new look at Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The studio premiered several minutes of in-game footage that also gave players a better idea of what to expect from Miles’ upcoming standalone adventure.

The footage opens with Miles sneaking into his bedroom to change out of his new costume. He then heads out into the snow-flecked streets of Harlem to meet his friend (presumably Ganke from Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man comics). The two make their way over to a rally for Miles’ mom, Rio, who’s running for city council. But as Insomniac Creative Director Brian Horton explained, Rio’s campaign is caught in the middle of a war. The two sides are the Roxxon corporation and the Underground, a band of techno-thieves led by a re-imagined, gender-flipped version of The Tinkerer.

Most of the video highlights an action sequence that takes place on a city bridge, after the Underground has stolen a mysterious energy source developed by Roxxon. Miles swings into action and fends off Underground goons. He also shows how players can use his venom strike and invisibility during a fight. Unfortunately, the battle compromises the structural integrity of the bridge. It isn’t long before Miles has to turn his attention toward rescuing civilians before it collapses into the river below.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales will hit stores as a Playstation 5 launch title on November 12. Additionally, Sony and Insomniac have confirmed that the game will be released for Playstation 4 as well. They also unveiled (via the official Playstation Blog) the box art for the PS5-exclusive “Ultimate Edition” of the game. This includes a voucher code for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered, which collects Spider-Man PS4 and The City That Never Sleeps DLC with improved graphics. Gamers who pick up this version will also have access to three new suits, new photo mode features, and new trophies. You can check out the box art below.
