Universal Studios Japan Announces Super Nintendo World Opening Date

It’s finally happening, Universal Studios Japan is opening Super Nintendo World in a few weeks. The Universal Studios theme park announced the official opening date of Feb. 4 in a video and released a few promotional photos (h/t Slashfilm). The upcoming theme park area is based mostly on Nintendo‘s Super Mario franchise. Inside Bowser’s castle — Koopa in Japanese — fans will ride a real-life Mario Kart attraction called “Koopa’s Challenge,” an attraction that promises to make the fans feel the same adrenaline as the fan-favorite video game. Moreover, the ride will feature competing tracks and AR headsets for the riders. According to Bloomberg, visitors can collect virtual coins by wearing a dedicated wristband as they explore the area and interact with park features via a Switch console.

And Universal is also already planning to bring Super Nintendo World to Universal Studios Hollywood in California and Universal’s Epic Universe in Orlando.
