Grand Unifier Raker Appears in a New Guardians of the Galaxy Preview

A relatively obscure Marvel villain is taking the Guardians of the Galaxy to church when their new video game arrives later this year. Eidos Montréal has just released a new cinematic from the game that shows the team of heroes coming face to face with Grand Unifier Raker. Check it out for yourself below.

Gamers got their first look at another one of the game’s villains, Lady Hellbender, earlier this month. But Raker poses a completely different type of theat. Just like in the comics, he represents the Universal Church of Truth, a religious empire composed of various alien species. Its members travel the cosmos to find new worlds to conquer under the guise of peace and harmony. The church is also led by the mysterious being known only as “the Matriarch.”

Judging by the cinematic, it looks like players will pay a visit to the Matriarch in the game as well. Flanked on either side by his hulking guards, Raker tells the Guardians that the church’s leader wishes to share “truth” with them. But as he delivers this news, their ship is swallowed up by a much larger vessel. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait another two months to see how their meeting plays out.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will hit PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X & Series S, and PC on October 26.
