Rocksteady Studios was forced to pull Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League offline just an hour into its early release due to a massive bug.
The game — which doesn’t launch fully until February 2, 2024 — began releasing in early access for owners of the game’s Deluxe Edition on Monday. However, owners in New Zealand (the first territory to see the game release) quickly spotted a fairly massive bug.
According to users, players were finding that when they logged in for the first time, the game was treating them as if they had already fully beaten the story. In a statement from Rocksteady, the developer acknowledged the issue and noted they were taking the game offline to perform maintenance on the game’s servers to fix the issue.
What is Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League about?
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League puts players in the shoes of the ragtag group of villains-turned-mercenaries known as the Suicide Squad. The game stars Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark as they’re tasked with saving the world by killing the Justice League. The game is set to include a litany of heroes, including Batman — voiced by the late Kevin Conroy — as well as other villains like Penguin, Brainiac, and more.
Kill the Justice League serves as the next entry in Rocksteady‘s “Arkhamverse” of DC games. It takes place five years after the events of the developer’s 2015 trilogy capper Batman: Arkham Knight.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launches on February 2, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
