Leslie Jones Slams the New Ghostbusters Movie

Earlier this month, fans of the original Ghostbusters were encouraged to learn that Jason Reitman will write and direct a new film set in continuity with the first two movies. However, there’s at least one Ghostbusters actress who is less than pleased. Leslie Jones costarred in the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot alongside Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and Kate McKinnon. Over the weekend, Jones shared her thoughts about the new film, and she wasn’t shy about expressing herself.

The third Ghostbusters movie was a complete reboot directed by Paul Feig. Many of the surviving stars from the first Ghostbusters made cameo appearances to support the new cast. However, the film was greeted by a backlash from some fans, even before filming began. Jones has been one of the most vocal performers from the reboot, and unafraid to speak out in its defense.

Despite high expectations from Sony, the 2016 Ghostbusters earned under $230 million worldwide. It’s estimated that Sony took a $70 million write off on the film. More than anything else, that’s probably why Sony is so eager to revisit the world of the original Ghostbusters.
