Earlier today, word broke that DC and New Line had their eye on Aldis Hodge to portray Hawkman in their upcoming Black Adam movie headlined by Dwayne Johnson. During August’s DC FanDome event, the studios confirmed that the character will appear in the film as the leader of the Justice Society of America. Now, Johnson has taken to Instagram to praise Hodge’s casting.
It looks like Johnson personally phoned Hodge to tell him that he’d gotten the Hawkman role. He also included a transcript of their conversation in his latest post. You can read the whole thing for yourself below.

Hodge joins a cast that so far only includes Johnson and Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, another JSA member. Black Adam’s FanDome teaser confirmed that the big-screen Justice Society also includes Dr. Fate and Cyclone. However, those roles have yet to be cast. Jaume Collet-Serra is directing Black Adam from a script by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani.
Black Adam was originally supposed to start production this past summer and hit theaters in December 2021. But with COVID-19 in the way, filming will most likely begin early next year. DC still hasn’t shared whether the release date will change.
