The cast of Universal’s upcoming Renfield movie continues to grow. Deadline brings word that Adrian Martinez has landed a supporting role in the studio’s new Dracula spinoff.
The report also gives us some new details about the film’s story. According to the longline, the film will center on Nicholas Hoult’s title character, “who has grown sick and tired of his centuries as Dracula’s (Nicolas Cage) lackey. The henchman finds a new lease on life life and maybe even redemption when he falls for feisty, perennially angry traffic cop Rebecca Quincy (Awkwafina).”
Martinez has joined Renfield’s cast as Rebecca’s traffic cop partner, Chris. Most recently, Martinez had a role in Netflix’s The Guilty opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and was a series regular on ABC’s Stumptown. Some of his other big-screen credits include Disney+’s live-action Lady and the Tramp remake and I Feel Pretty. Viewers might also recognize him from playing a bodega cashier in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
