The recent Superman comics have been full of unlikely alliances. From LexCorp being handed over to the Man of Steel, to a team-up with Lobo, Clark Kent has been part of many unlikely team-ups. Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #26 features another unbelievable partnership. One which sees Superman getting a temporary but long overdue upgrade.
Written by Mark Waid, with art by Dan Mora, Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #26 finds the titular heroes teaming with Bat-Mite and Mister Mxyzptlk. The 5th Dimensional mischief-makers requested the heroes help in dealing with a wave of their fellow imps. Specifically, ones who hero-worshipped supervillains like Bat-Mite admired Batman, who were now teaming with their villainous idols.
The heroes and imps split into two teams, as the Man of Steel was reluctant to work with Mxyzptlk. Batman was likewise unwilling to deal with Bat-Mite, whom he saw as an annoying fanboy. This led to Superman and Bat-Mite teaming to save The Flash from Kadabra and his new imp sidekick. This presented a problem, however, as the Man of Steel was vulnerable to the imp’s magic. Thankfully, Bat-Mite had the perfect solution close at hand.
Bat-Mite Gives Superman Anti-Magic Armor
Thinking quickly, Superman recalled how he sometimes used a lead-lined suit to protect himself from Kryptonite. He asked if Bat-Mite could make him something similar to protect him from magic. Bat-Mite said he had the perfect thing and conjured an armored suit around the Man of Steel.
To Superman’s annoyance, the armored suit had Batman in mind, with ears on the helmet and a ragged cape. Bat-Mite justified this, however, saying he had made the armor as a birthday present for the Dark Knight that year. While it may not have been tailored to his tastes (despite featuring his famous S-shield) the armor provided the perfect upgrade for taking down Kadabra.
Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #26 is now available on-line and at comic shops everywhere.
