Julia Louis-Dreyfus has confirmed that Marvel’s Thunderbolts* has wrapped filming.
Speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confsued podcast, Louis-Dreyfus, who plays Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in the MCU, confirmed that production on Marvel’s Thunderbolts* “just wrapped last week.”
Louis-Dreyfus couldn’t reveal any plot details about the movie, noting that “when you work with these people, you have to sign a [non-disclosure agreement] NDA every three-and-a-half seconds.”
Louis-Dreyfus also wouldn’t reveal what the asterisk in the title for Thunderbolts* eludes to.
“Loved [the production],” she said. “I got to work with really cool people, who we already know are in the film. Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Lewis Pullman, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell. It was pretty dreamy.”
Julia Louis-Dreyfus recalls how she got her MCU role prior to Thunderbolts*
When asked how she got involved with the MCU, Louis-Dreyfus said, “I had a meeting with Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito, who run Marvel. They were big Seinfeld and Veep fans. I think they just wanted to talk about those shows. I went in and we were hanging around, talking about that episode and this episode. It just came up; they said, ‘Would you ever want to do something?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, it’d be so much fun, and my boys would freak out.’ That’s how it began.”
Regarding what intrigued her about the character of Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Louis-Dreyfus commented, “I like who she is, as a character, which is mysterious. Is she good, is she bad? It’s a little bit unclear. I like the idea of her maybe being a little bit of a puppet master. I liked that they were kind of just dropping her into different projects a little bit here, a little bit there.”
Thunderbolts* releases in United States theaters on May 5, 2025, from Marvel Studios.
