James Gunn, the head of DC, recently came forward on social media to pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman with an easter egg of Rocket Raccoon also appearing in the memorable photo from the set of an MCU project.
James Gunn shares throwback photo remembering Chadwick Boseman
On August 28, 2024, James Gunn went ahead to make a tribute post for Chadwick Boseman on his fourth death anniversary.
Gunn shared two snaps in an Instagram post and wrote, “Rest in Peace.” The first photo was of Chadwick Boseman posing and holding a dummy of Guardians of the Galaxy’s Rocket Raccoon. It seemingly dates back to his time shooting Avengers: Infinity War, as the late actor is seen wearing his Black Panther suit. In the second photo, Gunn is seen holding a trophy in his hands, posing next to Boseman and Chris Pratt.
James Gunn’s tribute post dedicated to Chadwick Boseman received more than 270,000 likes on Instagram. Many fans even chimed in the comments to express their thoughts. Boseman passed away at the young age of 43 on August 28, 2020, following a long-term battle with colon cancer.
The announcement of the actor’s death was made on his Instagram account through a heartfelt note. It read, “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman. Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV. He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side.”
Apart from James Gunn, Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther co-actor, Lupita Nyong’o also made a tribute post for him on Instagram.
