After setting a new Presidents’ Day box office record, Mark Steven Johnson’s Ghost Rider, starring Nicolas Cage, pulled a repeat at #1, bringing in an estimated $19.7 million its second weekend to hold Jim Carrey’s The Number 23 at bay to stay on top. Although it took a pretty big hit from opening weekend–possibly due to the number of new movies in wide release–it has grossed $78.6 million after its second weekend, which is 13% more than Johnson’s previous superhero film Daredevil had made in its first ten days.
