Later this year, Marvel is heading up to the Great White North for a story headlined by some of Canada’s favorite sons and daughters. The publisher has just announced (via its official website) that a special one-shot titled Alpha Flight: True North #1 is coming in September.
The extended issue contains three different tales featuring the stacked eight-member lineup. Apparently, the one-shot is also primed to “unearth the secret history of squad stalwarts Puck, Snow-bird, Talisman, Northstar, Marrina, Guardian, and Vindicator!”
Thankfully, any purists out there who feel that only true Canucks can handle the team’s adventures don’t have to worry. Marvel has staffed the issue with a who’s who of full-blooded Canadian writers and artists. Jim Zub, Jed MacKay, and Ed Brisson will pen the one-shot’s story. Additionally, Max Dunbar, Djibril Morissette-Phan, and Scott Hepburn have been tasked with the interior artwork.

Editor Chris Robinson teased what fans can expect from the issue when it arrives on comic store shelves this fall.
“To celebrate the Toronto Raptors winning the NBA Championship, we’re bringing back the greatest of the Great White North, Canada’s premiere super-team Alpha Flight!” said Robinson. “And we’ve assembled a super-team of Canadian talent behind the scenes for extra authenticity. Trust me, these guys are going deep into the Department H files to tie-up those loose Alpha Flight story threads that have been keeping you all up at night. You wanted dip with the chips? Here it is!”
