Marvel to Launch a New Morbius Comic Book Series in November

Sony is bringing Michael Morbius to the big screen next year in his own standalone film headlined by Jared Leto. But before that happens, fans can check out a new adventure featuring the featuring the Living Vampire himself in comic book form. Marvel has announced that Morbius #1 will be arriving this fall.

Hosts Ryan Penagos (Agent M) and Tucker Markus announced the title in the latest installment of Marvel’s The Pull List video series. Apparently, the new comic will give the title character new hope of finding a cure for his bloodthirsty condition. However, it might come at an even greater price.

“For years, Nobel Prize-winning biologist Michael Morbius has been strugging to cure himself of his vampirisim, and now for the first time one may be within reach,” said Penagos. “But the path is littered with dangers and mutations. Morbius may be a vampire now… but what will he become?”

It’s not clear if this will be a miniseries or an ongoing title. Regardless, the book’s creative team definitely sounds promising. The series comes from writer Vita Ayala and artist Marcelo Ferreira. Ayala is primarily known for her work for DC Comics on titles like Batman Beyond and Supergirl. Ferreira recently contributed artwork to Marvel’s War of the Realms: The Punisher. He has also worked on IDW’s Back to the Future comics.

Of course, Morbius wasn’t the only upcoming title announced today. Other comics due out in November include Deadpool #1, Scream: Curse of Carnage #1, Absolute Carnage #5, and sophomore issues of various X-Men titles.
