First Look At Black Hammer/Justice League #2

For the last ten years, Spiral City’s greatest heroes have been trapped in Rockwood on the Black Hammer farm. It may seem like reality, but Rockwood is a prison with no escape…until now. DC and Dark Horse’s Black Hammer/Justice League crossover has united these two worlds. Now, Abraham Slam, Golden Gail, Madame Dragonfly, and Barbalien have mysteriously been sent to the DC Universe. But in their place, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Cyborg have been trapped on the farm. Colonel Weird also made the trip, but not with the others. He’s out in space with the Green Lantern Corps!

In Superhero Hype’s first look at Black Hammer/Justice League #2, Jeff Lemire and artist Michael Walsh show us how Batman is taking his confinement. Which is to say, he’s not taking it well at all. Somehow, the Justice League has spent ten years in the living Purgatory of Rockwood. However, they haven’t been anymore successful at escaping than their counterparts.

Lemire also shared a few words for SHH readers:

Black Hammer/Justice League: Hammer of Justice is the weirdo superhero crossover event I always dreamed of. Seeing these iconic DC characters, whom I love so much, interact with my own creations from the Black Hammer universe is a strange and wonderful thing.”

“As if drawing Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman isn’t enough; I also get to put my stamp on the young Black Hammer universe and all its great characters like Barbalien and Colonel Weird,” added Walsh. “This comic is a great balance between the bombastic super heroics of the DC universe and the nuanced character work of the Black Hammer world. Readers are really going to love what we are cooking up and working with Jeff has been a real pleasure.”

Here’s the official description from Dark Horse and DC: “DC Comics and Dark Horse Comics present the ultimate superhero crossover event of 2019! After a mysterious stranger warps reality, the out-of-practice Black Hammer heroes must contend with both Starro and the rest of the DC universe. Meanwhile, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Cyborg try to adjust to life on Black Hammer Farm, while Colonel Weird and the Green Lantern try to uncover the secret behind this reality swap and the strange man who started it all.”

Black Hammer/Justice League #2 will hit comic shops on Wednesday, August 14. Let us know what you think in the comment section below!
