Netflix’s Daybreak Trailer Shows off Post-Apocalypse High School

What happens if an apocalypse breaks out during your high school years? We will soon know the answer, as Netflix has revealed the first look at Daybreak, a new 10-episode high school dark comedy coming this fall. It’s based on the graphic novel of the same name by Brian Ralph. The trailer brings us to Glendale High School in “another gorgeous morning” in this quiet town. Too bad that life “is about to get weird,” as the world is heading towards a drastic change. We then meet Colin Ford’s Josh Wheeler, the teenager protagonist who will team up with Austin Crute’s Wesley and Alyvia Alyn Lind’s Angelica while searching for his girlfriend. All of it seasoned with a very Mad Max-esque atmosphere.

The Daybreak cast includes also Krysta Rodriguez, Sophie Simnett, Cody Kearsley, as well as Jeanté Godlock and Gregory Kasyan. Executive producers are Aron Eli Coleite, as well as Brad Peyton, and Jeff Fierson.

The official synopsis reads as follows: “Based on the graphic novel by Brian Ralph, the subversive dark comedy Daybreak finds 17 year old high school outcast Josh searching for his missing girlfriend Sam in post-apocalyptic Glendale, California. Joined by a ragtag group of misfits including pyromaniac 12 year old Angelica and Josh’s former high school bully Wesley, now turned pacifist samurai, Josh tries to stay alive amongst the horde of Mad Max-style gangs (evil jocks, cheerleaders turned Amazon warriors), zombie-like creatures called Ghoulies, and everything else this brave new world throws at him.”

Daybreak will air be available on streaming exclusively on Netflix starting October 24. What are your expectations from Daybreak? Let us know in the comments section below.
