New York Comic Con Will Return With In-Person Convention This Fall

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, comic book conventions were largely out of the question in 2020. San Diego Comic-Con has already cancelled this year’s summer convention, while making controversial plans for a smaller convention Thanksgiving weekend. However, New York Comic Con is almost ready for a full scale comeback.

Via The Hollywood Reporter, ReedPop has revealed that New York Comic Con will return to NYC’s Javits Center from October 7-10. Additionally, this year’s NYCC will retain a virtual event. In 2020, NYCC and SDCC were both relegated to online only panels and events. Assuming that these dates hold, NYCC will be the first major comic convention to get back on the schedule.

Intriguingly, THR also notes that Comic-Con International is getting a lot of pushback over the Thanksgiving weekend con. A studio representative told THR that “we love San Diego Comic-Con and would love to support, but what actor or producer is going to give up their first post-vaccine Thanksgiving holiday with family to travel to San Diego to publicize a project?”

Unless CCI reconsiders its plans, the Comic-Con International Special Edition will take place on November 26-28.
