Brian Azzarello Joins Forces With Alex Maleev For Suicide Squad: Get Joker!

Two powerhouse creators are joining forces on a new miniseries starring the members of Task Force X. And thanks to the less restrictive nature of DC’s Black Label imprint, expect it to be gritty as hell. DC has announced that Brian Azzarello and Alex Maleev are collaborating on Suicide Squad: Get Joker!, kicking off this summer.

Azzarello and Maleev have previously worked on some of the darkest Batman stories ever told (Damned and No Man’s Land, respectively). As the title implies, the series will put the DC Universe’s most dangerous criminals on a hunt for the Clown Prince of Crime. Leading them is Jason Todd/Red Hood, Amanda Waller’s latest recruit to bring the Dark Knight’s nemesis down for good. His team also includes Harley Quinn, Firefly, and more.

As with other Black Label titles, all three issues of Get Joker! will be presented in oversized Prestige Plus format. Azzarello and Maleev are also working with colorist Matt Hollingsworth on the series. The premiere issue features a card stock cover by Maleev himself. Additionally, readers can pick up a variant cover illustrated by Jorge Fornes.

Suicide Squad: Get Joker #1 will hit comic shops on August 3. You can view the first issue’s primary cover and three pages of interior artwork in the gallery below.
